What is Country Choral

Country Choral is a series of intimate, residential workshops for singers who want to dive deeply into ensemble singing. Each weekend brings together a small group of participants to explore a wide variety of repertoire in a relaxed, collaborative setting. The focus is on chamber-style music-making: listening closely, shaping sound together, developing confidence in one-to-a-part singing, and discovering the expressive detail within this repertoire.

Alongside focused musical sessions, the weekends are designed as a creative retreat—time to slow down, enjoy unhurried music-making, and connect with like-minded singers. Participants leave with new repertoire, refined ensemble skills, and the sense of having taken part in something both musically rich and genuinely restorative.

Country Choral was established in 2025 by Anne Lowe. Anne is a keen singer, Chair of Ilkley chamber choir Cantores Olicanae, and has organized a number of singing events over the past few years, including several at High Trenhouse. The first two weekend workshops (2025) with Rory focused on Early Music.
